Hello Pack 37 Families!

My apologies for the lateness in getting my first Cubmaster update out to you; I was waiting for the results from the Pinewood Derby from the race organizer.  The results are attached and a brief explanation of what happened at our Pinewood Derby is below.

Here are the Upcoming Events for our pack:

  • April 9 Den Meetings at St. Stephens (6:30 PM)
  • April 13 District Pinewood Derby at Park High School Cottage Grove (Registration begins at 11:00 AM Races start at 12:30 PM). Here are the scouts I have marked down as racing. If this is incorrect or you can no longer make it please contact me as soon as possible:
    • Jonah Estall
    • William Steiner
    • Wyatt Cook
    • RJ Altman
    • Ben Kellogg
  • April 16 Pack Meeting at St. Stephens (6:30 PM)
  • April 24 Give Back Wednesday at Mendoberri (4:00 PM to 10:00 PM). A portion of the sales from this day will go to our pack.  Check them out at http://www.mendoberri.com/index.php
  • April 27 Feed My Starving Children service project at Summit Brewery (9:30 AM). If you’ve never done one, this is a great opportunity for scouts and parents to see how local actions can have a global impact.  Follow the link below to sign up.  If you have questions please contact John Chandler. http://volunteer.fmsc.org/Register/Group/JoinGroup.aspx?gid=332595

Friends of Scouting:
We are within $250 of our goal!  If you are considering giving, it’s not too late.  Thank you to all for helping to support scouting.

Pack 37 Pinewood Derby:
Several parents/guardians had asked me for race results and to know what happened at the pack race and why there was a change in the top 5.  Regarding the results, it simply took much longer than expected to get the results from the race organizer.  As to the change in the top 5, there were some scouts that only raced 3 times.  This resulted in a lower overall time (their fourth run was essential 0 seconds) and was discovered after the track was disassembled.  The best we could was to take the lowest/fastest time from their 3 races and add that to their total.  This resulted in the change in the top 5.  We are looking at putting measures in place for next year so that we don’t have these problems.

Cubmaster Minute:
With most of our scouts on spring break this week, have fun, stay safe and we’ll see you in April.

Thanks for helping to make our pack great!

Rick Wendt
